Follow these simple five (5) steps to apply and utilize the funding for transformative STEM education services:Â
Ensure Your Eligibility
Utah STEM Action Center Professional Learning Grant applications can be submitted by either a single Utah school or a district. All applications must be submitted by an authorized administrator based in the state of Utah.Â
Explore Professional Learning Opportunities
Before applying, do some research on Professional Learning opportunities that align with your and your institution’s goals. For example; if you are looking to make instructional improvements in Elementary Math and prefer the vendor to be on-site, look at Utah-based Math Education consultants that specialize in grades K-6. Dive into their offerings and topics, check their resources, and their testimonials section to ensure they are the right guide for your instructional staff.Â
Choose a Professional Learning Consultant
Narrow down your search to two or three consultants or Professional Learning providers and reach out. Here you can ask questions about how workshops and coaching sessions are conducted, how many teachers can be included in each training, and what topics are offered. This is a great time to ask about pricing and customized offerings as well to ensure you’re maximizing the impact of the Grant at your school or district. This Grant offers a maximum funding amount based on the number of participants in the program. The chosen program cannot exceed an average amount of $1,000.00 per participant per year. Now it’s time to decide which program you’d like to utilize!
Have a Plan of Action
Provide a clear plan for how the Professional Learning training will enhance STEM education at your school or district directly within the application. Strong applications align professional development goals with measurable student outcomes. Professional Learning programs or packages must include:
opportunities to build leadership capacity in teachers,
practices based on data-based decision-making,Â
being able to support long-term growth,
and ongoing opportunities for professional development.Â
Programs and packages can also include the creation of a 2-year implementation plan.
